Globally, refugee and immigrant communities arrive with extraordinary assets—entrepreneurial spirit, a vibrant cultural tapestry, social networks, and a dream for the promise of America. Yet the systems they encounter subject them to a constant assault of anti-Blackness, xenophobia, and religious discrimination while confining them to low-wage work, and the eventual displacement from the historic neighborhoods they've helped build and revitalize.

But this isn't just a global challenge. It's America's challenge. And as a border community, San Diego can show how communities nationwide can create the welcoming infrastructure necessary to ensure the promise of America is open to every human being, regardless of how they worship or where they come from.
We are building towards a future that roots belonging and transforms resilience into our shared prosperity.
